Personal Training and Rates

What better way to get the individual attention you need to get a safe, effective workout in the comfort of your own home than by hiring a personal trainer? I am available for personal training sessions to people in Toronto, Ontario. I can come to your home, building, or recreation facility. I supply the equipment for your initial sessions. I will provide you with a safe and effective training program, which you can easily incorporate into your own lifestyle. Why hire a personal trainer?

A personal trainer is a health professional who knows how to design an exercise program that is safe, effective, and customized to your goal, fitness level, and needs. You should look for someone with a specialization in older adult fitness, certified by a reputable organization. A personal trainer will:

  • Design an exercise routine that is geared specifically to you.
  • Listen to you, help you set your goals, pay attention to your specific needs, and start at your current level of fitness.
  • Be empathetic about your limitations and reservations, and take the time to explain and demonstrate all the exercises, and modify them if necessary.
  • Monitor your progress and encourage you every step of the way.
  • Keep your workout dynamic, fun, and focused. You will see results!
What happens in a personal training session?

Our first meeting is the consultation. We’ll talk about your current health, and your fitness goals. I’ll answer any questions you have about personal training.

To help me plan a program for you, I’ll ask you to complete a few questionnaires. All the information gathered on these forms will be kept in the strictest of confidence. Individuals over the age of 69 or who has certain chronic conditions will also need to obtain medical clearance prior to beginning personal training sessions. I will provide all necessary forms to give to your doctor.

It is possible that you may have a health condition that could be aggravated by exercise or need the attention of another type of health professional. In those cases, we may have to postpone beginning a program until those issues can be resolved. I will not charge you for personal training sessions until we are ready to begin. This is why the consultation and assessment are not included in the Personal Training Package price (see Rates below).

Once you are ready to begin, I will perform a fitness assessment to determine your current fitness level and create a customized program (exercise prescription) based on your goals and fitness level.

In the personal training sessions, we will work through your program together, monitor your progress, and modify it when appropriate. Personal training sessions typically last 1 hour, except the fitness assessment session, which will take between 1 1/2 hours to complete. The client will receive a fitness assessment report once results have been compiled.

Rates (please add 13% HST). Cash, Cheque, or Credit Card (and Visa co-branded debit card) payments accepted.

All new clients must have a fitness assessment prior to beginning an exercise program. I begin with a consultation to discuss your fitness goals and provide you with necessary forms to complete prior to beginning the fitness assessment and exercise program. Consultations and assessments can also be purchased separately on an as-needed basis.

All new clients receive a resistance training band and a fitness manual containing your fitness assessment report and an individualized exercise program (exercise pictures and a training log).

Further discounts are offered for ongoing clients depending on number of sessions, frequency, and payment option. Ask Chris for details when re-booking sessions.

*Seniors’ rate is set for retired or underemployed individuals, during daytime hours.  Limited time slots available. Ask for details.
